Adora Van Gogh

Just a Minute Ago

I was helping Adora clean up her playdough and it was all over the place in microscopic little bits, I was thinking in my own head, it's like she was trying to make sand. Then I asked, 'what were you making Dora?' and she replied 'sand in the sandbox!'
How amazing is that!
Actually that was a fabrication. What she really said was 'A MESS!' and that was the truth.

Drama Queen

Somebody warn the theatre. They've never seen anything like this. About a month or so ago, Matthew and I began to notice a new talent emerging in our biggest little munchkin. The first instance I remember I opened the car door upon arrivng home to Adora with a look of utter dispair on her face. My mind quickly rushed through my and Matt's conversation on the way home. Had we said somthing to frighten her, somthing to hurt her tender little feelings. Not that I could remember. 'Honey what's wrong?' I asked almost breathlessly, that's how forlorn she looked.
Then her smile broke out. She tricked me! Since then she has been trying out her new skill on us. Sometimes it is definitley an act, but sometimes I really think she is sincere. It is becoming increasingly hard to tell if she really is hurt when she bangs her head, or if the tears are forced. Her newist trick is the fake yawn. This one comes out mostly when she doesn't want to eat the food on her plate. One can't shovel food in when the mouth is busy yawning.
I don't even want to think how this is going to evolve over the next sixteen years.

My Budding Artist

Adora is a budding everything! The girl can count, sing, dance, write letters, do all kinds of amazing things. She even knows about electricity! I can't believe how much she understands and the rivers of talent that come pouring out of her in every possible category. Here are a few pages out of her colouring book. Isn't she a clouring genius?

A Really Bad Picture

You know how you're always looking for the best, most flattering pictures of yourself and your family to show the world.

Well, this is not one of them. I feel so bad for her, but when this picture of Adora popped onto the computer screen the other day. Matthew and I laughed until we cried. We don't even know how she was able to contort her beautiful little face this way.

Anyway, I had to post it, but in all fairness I have decided to search out the worst picture of myself that I can find on our hard drive, if they havn't all been deleted that is, and post it to my blog in the next few days.

Murried

Adora was wearing a florescent pink flower bracelet and walked up to me very slowly, cradling the bracelet very carefully. She looked at me and in her serious voice said 'I got this the day I got murried'. (She also sings Murry had a Little Lamb)

Lyrics

As I write this Adora is in the tub singing at the top of her lungs. The words to this particular song are supposed to go 'I have peace like a river, I have peace like a river, I have peace like a river in my soul.'
Adora's Version: 'I have peace for the river in my whole'

This is Mommy Helping Her

(Editor's note: Danica is typing but Adora is telling her what to say.)

I had so much fun. (ref. daycare) And I watched T.U.Yes (whatever that is). I want Puppy Wuffy.

I forive you. (Hahahaha, I said 'what do you you want to say to Papa Rick?') You're a funny papa.

(Grandma Kathy) Hello Grandma Kathy. I want to say hello to her her. She want to celebrate with me. And I want to do it on the end of the race. And then I want Grandma Kathy to the end of the summer and take them to the hospital. And then the water went WASH down the spout and the water came down and there was a spider. (Hmm, Grandma Kathy this is starting to sound a little like a nursury rhyme cartoon we recently watched)

The itsy bitsy spider climbed on the mountain. Can I have some water?
How about we make it the end?

(okay Dora)
