Adora the Maid

Our house today was the most disgusting state of affairs anyone has ever seen. I don't just mean dirty or unruuly, but disgusting. When I walked into the house at 10:30 this morning when my classes were done I was nearly knocked over by the putrid scent. Some of this had to do with our wet towels still on the laundry room floor from swimming last saturday (note, that it is now friday, ewwwww) and part had to do with the fact that Gracie (poor poor little munchkin) went through two sets of bedding, two stuffed animals and three sleepers while barfing all night long. And part of it was because I was so busy procrastinating by way of blog yesterday evening that the dinner dishes never got done.

Anyway, (I sure have a way of making a short story a long one, don't I) I came here to tell you what Dora said just now. I'm frantically scrubbing our house to sparkling (yes, the towels made it into the wash), Grace is sleeping, and Adora, wanting to play, has been put to work 'dusting' which has evolved into washing the walls and coming to me to rinse out her cloth ever 30 seconds thereby slowing down my progress on the kitchen.

I thanked her for being such a good helper, then I said I am so lucky to have a great daughter. She asked 'why am I a great daughter?' and I said, 'I dunno, why are you such a good daughter?'

Her back to me, she paused with her wall washing for a reflective moment, hung her head and let out a long sigh. 'it's because I just clean ALL day.'
